Serving up inspiration at the New Zealand Culinary Fare
18 November 2014
In August 2014, we got to spend three days doing what we love – immersing ourselves in the hospitality world – at the New Zealand Culinary Fare.
The New Zealand Culinary Fare brings together everyone living, working and breathing New Zealand’s fast-paced hospitality industry. Based at Auckland’s gorgeous Pacific-themed Vodafone Events Centre, the Fare is all about the latest innovations with plenty of live competitions and demonstrations, workshops and seminars, and a business hub for that all-important networking.
Of course, we jumped at the chance to take a stand for the three days.
It meant we had the opportunity to talk to all the young chefs taking part in the competitions, plus front-of-house staff, and let them know a little about what we do here.
We also had the chance to meet industry leaders and get the inside scoop on what’s going on in the hospitality scene.
Not only that, the Fare allowed us to meet lots of students and tutors from various hospitality schools. We were pretty excited to share with them our thoughts and experiences about working in the industry, and what’s involved.
We caught up with lots of old colleagues and friends and saw first-hand the future of the industry performing under the pressure of the intense competitions – and the future is looking fantastic. Judging by the talent and skills on show, the level of the hospitality industry is going to keep on climbing higher and higher.
To us, the New Zealand Culinary Fare proved what we already know: it really is one of the most exciting times to be joining the hospitality industry. We’re still buzzing with inspiration from everything we saw and everyone we spoke to…
Until next time,
Shona, Billy, Cristiano and the team
